Church School at CCC is place where our kids can grow and learn, a place where they can feel safe and secure, and a place where they can ask questions. Church School at CCC is a time for our children to learn about God and attempt to understand this higher power.

"Everything But The Turkey" Food Drive 2022

In November 2022, we collected 40+ bags and boxes of “Thanksgiving Food Kits” and other nonperishable food essentials for families in need in our community. All donations went directly to Manna Food CenterIt was a truckload of food, going straight to families in need who will be able to chose the items they want for their holiday meals.

Fresh Food for Shepherd's Table 2022

In the week before Thanksgiving, we collected an abundant harvest of seasonal fresh produce to adorn the CCC Altar for our Thanksgiving Service, and immediately afterwards to donate to Shepherd’s Table.

Shepherd’s Table, a nonprofit community based organization, was formed through the joint effort of 33 local religious congregations which included CCC to help people who are homeless or in need by providing basic services — including meals, social services, medical support, clothing, and other assistance. Some members of our congregation have helped to serve dinner at Shepherd’s Table in the past.

Summer Book Drive 2022

During the summer of 2022, we collected over 300 books meaning over 300 kids in our area had an opportunity to take home a book this fall. Many of the donated books were diverse, helping young readers in communities across our area see themselves and their dreams on those pages. Books and donations were provided to Everybody Wins DC. Any donations that EWDC was not able to accept were donated to the Little Free Library.

Easter Egg Hunt 2022

We had a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt on April 17! The church school children had a great time finding Easter Eggs outside on the grounds of CCC. Thanks to those who helped hide the eggs and make this event a success!

Social Justice Awareness

Another value that we instill in our students is social and racial justice. These values are also maintained by the church through the Racial Justice Circle and the Justice and Witness Engagement Area.

Our students attended a presentation by Dave and Toko Ackerman about their experience in Selma, AL in 1965 in the aftermath of Bloody Sunday.

Most recently, we encouraged our children to participate in the Day of Silence on April 23, 2021. This is a student-led observance with the purpose of bringing awareness to the bullying of lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender students by taking a vow of complete silence for the whole day in a representation of the silencing of the LGBTQ+ community. The day is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
