We look to Jesus Christ as the source of our direction, we respect human power, and we spend time aligning our organization structure in ways that respect inclusion, democratic decision making, and listening to the call of the Spirit. The governance of Christ Congregational Church is vested in its members who exercise the right of control in all its affairs. We govern our decisions with a Constitution and By-Laws.
In 2019, we finalized a complete restructuring of our leadership and committee structure to allow pliability in our decision making in alignment with our congregational values. Most decisions flow through our Coordinating Council. The Council provide leadership for the church’s Christian mission by engaging in long-range planning, acting as trustees of the church organization, overseeing the program and fiduciary matters of the church, and recommending church-wide priorities to the congregation. The Council is facilitated by a Moderator. The Moderator presides at all meetings of the church and the Council, in cooperation with the Senior Minister, determines the agendas. The Moderator gives particular attention to church-wide issues, coordination, and long-range planning for the church.
CCC divides its mission and ministry into Engagement Areas, which are led by Council Coordinators. The Council Coordinators oversee each named program area of the church and represent the ministry and program vitality of CCC.
