New Here?

NEW HERE?

A Message from Our Senior Minister

At Christ Congregational Church we honor and celebrate people of all races, cultures, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Christ Congregational Church is a covenant community. We are bound together, not by agreeing to a creed, but by our intention to walk together on our spiritual journeys.

We affirm questing and questioning. In walking together in faith, we listen to one another and share together what is most important in our lives. In this way, we believe we grow in our faith and celebrate our differences. We respect and accept where each person is on their own faith journey.

At CCC, you will find seekers of a loving, inclusive God; thinkers and questioners; doubters and believers; those with a passion for social justice; those who have deep roots in our church and those who have no history of church membership. We welcome your interest in getting to know us. Please complete the Contact Form below.

No matter where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome at our church as we worship God and seek to follow the teachings of Jesus.

Please join us In-Person or Online for our Worship Services on Sundays at 10:30 am!

In faith,

Pastor Matt Braddock

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are currently offering a blended worship service, giving you the option to attend in-person or online via Zoom.

In-Person

When you enter the church from the parking lot, a greeter will be there to check you in. Masks are currently optional, though encouraged and welcome, inside the building.

Online

Information for logging into services can be found here. There are online greeters that will welcome you by name after you login to the service.

We recommend that you view the worship bulletin prior to attending.

Services consist of (in order): welcome and announcements; prelude; call to worship; hymn of praise; musical offering; scripture reading; sermon; pastoral prayer; call to offering and offertory music; and benediction. Worship services typically last about an hour.

Following the service, if you use Zoom, you may participate in one of the breakout rooms. The purpose of the breakout rooms is for congregants to socialize with each other. For instructions on how to use the breakout rooms, check out our video.

For in-person services: Something comfortable. Most of us dress casually (e.g. slacks or jeans). If you are more comfortable in a suit and tie or dress, you won’t be alone.

For online services: You are not required to turn your video camera on. Some attendees do use their video camera during services. If you choose to use your video camera the same guidelines for in-person services apply.

The church parking lot has some spaces set aside for Sunday morning visitors. If the parking lot behind the church is full, there is additional parking across Indian Spring Road from the church, or on the street.

Children: Please visit our church school page for more information. A full Church School program is available for children, with a nursery for younger children. Church school is conducted during worship. Children remain with their parents for the first part of the worship service, then come forward to participate in “children’s time” with the pastor or other leader in the sanctuary, then go to church school. When you come in to the church, you can learn where all the classrooms are so that you will know where your children will be at the end of the worship service.

Teens: Check out the CYM page for the latest updates about events. We have an active youth program that we refer to as the Cooperative Youth Ministry (CYM) for teens in 6th through 12th grades.

Adults:  There is an Exploring Faith Class for adults at 8:30AM on Sundays via Zoom which explores Christian perspectives.  For more information, check out the Adult Education page

The church also offers small groups for adults. To learn more about small groups visit the Fellowship Groups page.

Our congregation supports several local as well as national and international social justice concerns, including international projects in India and Africa, a local soup kitchen, a community ministry in downtown DC, and our county’s community ministry. Our social justice ministry is guided by our ministers and the church’s justice and witness engagement area. For more information view our Justice & Witness page.

Yes, the entrance from the parking lot is accessible. There are parking spots reserved for those with disability placards. We have an elevator to all levels of the church. The sanctuary is accessible via ramp for wheelchairs and walkers. Accessible restroom facilities are also available.

Becoming a Member of CCC

When you become a member of CCC, you make a difference. Joining our church means you make connections and join a community. When you join, you become a voting member of the church. Members vote on the church’s budget each year, they vote on which of the members should serve as key leaders, and they even vote on whether or not to call a new pastor. Members promise to share our spiritual life, seeking to follow our still-speaking God and live out the gospel. Members hold other people in prayer and in love. They contribute to the community by volunteering as they are able. They share their spiritual journey with others, knowing that they do not have all the answers, but can seek greater truths and engage in compassionate service better together as a sign of what it means to walk in the way of faith.

Membership at CCC is shepherded by our Member Care and Fellowship (MC&F) Engagement area in coordination with the Senior Minister. About four times a year, MC&F hosts opportunities to learn more about CCC. New members are welcomed during one of our regular Sunday church services.

We Would Love to Hear From You!
